Severe mud fever on front and hind legs: an intensive approach with success
A horse with severe mud fever on both the front and hind legs can be a major challenge. In this case, medication had been used repeatedly for several months, but without the desired result. Despite all efforts, the mud fever remained persistent. Therefore, a different approach was chosen.
Treatment plan
To tackle the problem at its core, a holistic approach was taken using a combination of technology, nutrition and natural supplements.
- A scan was performed and the horse was treated daily with the miHealth device to support energy balance and stimulate the recovery process.
- The diet was modified by removing all sugars and grains from the diet to allow the body to detoxify and reduce inflammatory responses.
- The immune system was supported with probiotics (Proferm-Microferm) to promote intestinal health and strengthen resistance.
- For additional support of the skin, natural supplements were used, including Dermavet and Fursyn, to promote recovery and remove waste products.
Result after six weeks
After six weeks, there was a clear improvement visible. The skin was calmer, the mud fever was greatly reduced and the horse showed a better overall condition. The combination of targeted treatments and a customized diet proved to be an effective solution.
